Manchester United duo Luke Shaw and David De Gea have tried to get over their disappointing 3-0 defeat against Tottenham by enjoying a spot of lunch in Cheshire on Tuesday afternoon.

Both De Gea and Shaw featured in the game and played admirably at Old Trafford but were ultimately unable to deny Lucas Moura and Harry Kane from scoring in their second-half collapse.

United’s No 1 enjoyed some lunch with some friends at La Famiglia restaurant in Hale Village while Shaw was nearby with his entourage.

Monday’s embarrassing home humbling by Spurs was hard to take for Shaw who was one of United’s top players on the night.

After the game, Shaw complimented United‘s dressing room by saying that they have the spirit, determination and talent to bounce back from the 3-0 loss.

It ratchets up the pressure on Jose Mourinho and his team ahead of Sunday’s trip to Burnley, where left-back Shaw knows a response is needed.

‘You always see a lot of things in the media that go on about what our dressing room is like,’ the 23-year-old said.

‘But, look, we have a really good spirit, a really good group of lads and a group that want to work, want to achieve big things here.

‘We have a really good group and yeah of course we’ll reflect on our day off (on Tuesday) and we’ll come back in on Wednesday.

‘We’ve got a really good group, a good group of hard workers and amazing talents everywhere you look on the field.

‘We’ve just got to start taking our chances and I am sure we will start winning more games.’

Following Shaw’s impressive performance at full time, Mourinho approached the left back to congratulate and console him by patting him on the back before giving him a cuddle.

Mourinho was then applauded by the Stretford End in a show of support for the Portuguese boss.

Shaw took to Twitter to thank the fans after the game.

‘Last night hurt,’ he tweeted. ‘But I just wanna thank the fans for your amazing support it doesn’t go unnoticed. We will bounce back.’
