Overwatch Halloween 2018 starts today
The countdown is almost over to the release of the next big event from Blizzard.
The Overwatch Halloween start time has been set for October 9, meaning there are less than 24hrs before new skins are released as part of the event.
For those that don’t know, the Halloween Terror is a returning event that has been hosted by Blizzard for several years.
So we have a pretty good idea on what will be included in Overwatch Halloween Terror 2018.
The new event kicks off later today, Tuesday, October 9. This includes all platforms, without delay between them.
An update will likely herald the launch of the Halloween Terror, with new skins and seasonal modes included.
HALLOWEEN TERROR START TIME
The Overwatch update has not been given an official start time by Blizzard, who don’t usually provide that sort of information.
However, the development team have stuck to a rough schedule when it comes to releasing seasonal content, so we have an idea when things will begin.
The latest Overwatch news
Judging by past Overwatch releases, fans can expect it to go live between 6pm and 7pm BST on launch day.
There is a chance of some kind of delay; however, this seems unlikely based on how things have become a solid formula to follow.
Halloween Terror 2018 is expected to run for three weeks and will include new skins to unlock, as well as a new mode to play.
The PvE brawl: Junkenstein’s Revenge now has two modes to choose from and leaderboards to follow.
Players must face off against waves of enemies, with the likes of Genji, Torbjörn, Widowmaker, and Zenyatta available in the endless night variant.
Game Director Jeff Kaplan has warned fans to expect a few minor tweaks in the Junkenstein’s Revenge game mode, which pits four heroes against waves of enemies.
Cosmetic items will be available to unlock from the seasonal Halloween loot boxes, which will disappear when the event ends in November.
And as with other Overwatch Halloween events, past skins can be purchased.

Returning skins are valued at 1,000 credits, while the new skins will be available for 3,000 credits.
With the new update that is released today, there’s also a chance Blizzard will launch their new Torbjorn rework.
The dev team have been actively testing out the rework on the PTR and could be ready to launch the new changes during the Halloween Terror event.
“The goal of the rework is to increase his effectiveness in a wider range of situations while preserving the identity of the hero,” Overwatch developer Geoff Goodman reveals.
“Torbjörn was initially designed to be a specialised hero, intended to be a strong defensive option due to his armour-generating capabilities and controlling areas with his turret. However, the scrap collecting and Armor Pack mechanics have proven to cause problematic gameplay issues through their “feast or famine” nature.
“For instance, if you were winning with Torbjörn, you were able to gain tons of scrap to keep your team topped off with armour.
“However, if you weren’t doing it well, it often felt too difficult to gather scrap effectively. This challenge was amplified on offence as he struggled to use either of his abilities to grant armour or set up and upgrade a turret in a useful position.
“In order to make the hero more flexible in a wide variety of situations, we started by making the turret much easier to deploy and removed both the Armor Pack ability and scrap mechanics.
“Molten Core proved to be extremely tricky to use alongside the new turret changes, so we changed it into a new area denial ultimate ability that can be utilised more freely.
“Lastly, we’ve moved some of the old Molten Core functionality into a new ability— Overload—which replaces Armor Packs.”
NEW SKINS FOR HALLOWEEN 2018?
The official Overwatch Twitter account has been teasing upcoming new skins as the Halloween Terror event draws near.
For the past few days, they have been revealing brand new skins for the Overwatch Halloween event.
At the time of writing five heroes have had their Halloween skins revealed by the California-based gaming giant.
These Overwatch characters who have had their Halloween skins revealed are Doomfist, Moira, Widowmaker, Pharah and Wrecking Ball (aka Hammond).
Fans are also expecting two remaining Overwatch skins to be revealed before the start of the Overwatch Halloween Terror event 2018.
This is after a leaked silhouette appeared on the PTR of the new legendary skins.
