Stan Lee has died
Lee was a comic book writer, editor, producer and publisher; formerly editor-in-chief at the iconic Marvel Comics. He is responsible or part-responsible for vast numbers of recognisable superheroes, and has made cameo appearances in many Marvel films – both before and during the era of the MCU.
So which movies has he been in? As fans remember him following his death, we recount all of his big screen appearances.
Blade (1998) – This cameo was cut from the finished movie, but he filmed an appearance as a police officer who discovered Quinn’s burning body.
X-Men (2000) – Lee was seen as a hotdog stand vendor on the beach.
Spider-Man (2002) – During Spidey’s first battle with the Green Goblin, you can see Lee pulling a little girl away from falling debris.
Daredevil (2003) – A young Matt Murdock stops Lee from crossing the road and being hit by a bus.

Hulk (2003) – In his first speaking role in a film based on one of his characters, Lee is a security guard at Bruce Banner’s lab.
Spider-Man 2 (2004) – As with the first Spider-Man, Lee is seen during the hero’s first battle with Doctor Octopus.
Man-Thing (2005) – A photograph of Lee is on a missing persons board.
Fantastic Four (2005) – Here, Lee actually plays one of his creations: Willie Lumpkin, the mail carrier who greets the titular gang as they enter the Baxter Building.
X-Men: The Last Stand (2005) – He plays one of Jean Grey’s neighbours in the opening scenes, set 20 years in the past.
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007) – Lee is himself at the wedding of Reed Richards and Susan Storm. He is turned away at the door.
Spider-Man 3 (2007) – Here, he is in Times Square as both he and Peter Parker read a news bulletin about Spider-Man.
Iron Man (2008) – In the first film of the MCU, Lee is at a gala speaking with three blondes, and is mistaken for Hugh Hefner.
The Incredible Hulk (2008) – Here, Lee is a hapless citizen who drinks something containing Bruce Banner’s blood.

Iron Man 2 (2010) – Lee is seen in suspenders and a red shirt and black and purple tie; mistakenly confused for Larry King.
Thor (2011) – Lee is seen at the site where Thor’s hammer Mjolnir lands on Earth.
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) – Lee is a World War II general who mistakes someone else for Steve Rogers.
The Avengers (2012) – He quips “Superheroes in New York? Give me a break”, when asked about the Avengers saving Manhattan.
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) – Lee is a librarian in Midtown Science High School, oblivious to Spider-Man and the Lizard having a fight.
Iron Man 3 (2013) – Lee is a beauty pageant judge who appears on TV.
Thor: The Dark World (2013) – Lee is a mental ward patient who loans his shoe to Erik Selvig.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) – Lee is a guest at Peter’s graduation.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) – Here, Lee plays an elderly gentleman talking to a younger woman.
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) – Lee plays a military veteran who attends the Avengers’ victory party.
Ant Man (2015) – Lee is briefly seen as a bartender.

Lee has racked up an incredible number of credits
Captain America: Civil War (2016) – Lee is seen as a Fed-Ex postman at the end of the movie. He mistakenly calls Tony Stark “Tony Stank”.
Deadpool (2016) – Lee works as an MC at a strip club in this cameo.
X-Men Apocalypse (2016) – Lee is briefly shown with his wife Joan, watching the rising nuclear weapons.
Doctor Strange (2016) – Lee is a bus rider reading The Doors of Perception; not realising Doctor Strange is in the midst of a nearby battle.
No Good Deed (2017) – In this short aired before Logan, he says ‘wow, nice suit’ to Deadpool.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 (2017) – He’s seen here as an astronaut telling a story to the Watchers, throwing back to his delivery driver appearance in Civil War.
Deadpool 2 (2018) – Lee is seen in graffiti art.
Spider-Man Homecoming (2017) – He’s seen here as an annoyed neighbour named Gary who calls Spider-Man a “punk”.

Thor: Ragnarok (2017) – Here, Lee is a servant to the Grandmaster, who cuts Thor’s hair.
Black Panther (2018) – Lee is seen as a patron of a casino in South Korea.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018) – Lee drives Peter Parker’s school bus and takes a casual attitude to a sinister space ship seen over the skyline.
Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) – Lee is a pedestrian whose cat is shrunk by the Wasp.
Venom (2018) – Here, in his most recent appearance, Lee is a dog walker who encourages Eddie Brock to keep up his relationship.
